What is HeadsUp Poker?
HeadsUp poker is the name given when two poker players, and only two poker players, play against each other. HeadsUp could be a result of two poker players being the only remaining players in a tournament that may have begun with hundreds of players. When it is down to just two players, it is termed HeadsUp poker. HeadsUp poker is also a name given when the betting results in just two poker players remaining on a particular deal, when all other poker players have folded. Typically in such HeadsUp poker situations the normal betting limits on the number of poker bets allowed is waived and the poker players may continue to bet until one poker player is out of chips. One of the most famous HeadsUp poker contests was held at Binions Horseshoe Casino in the 1950's and took place between Johnny Moss and Nick the Greek over a period of several months. It finally ended with Nick the Greek conceding defeat by uttering the now famous words "Mr Moss, I will have to let you go". No one knows for certain exactly how much money was wagered during their poker match; however, it is speculated that Nick the Greek lost a total of more than 2 million dollars during the headsup poker game to Johnny Moss, which by 1950's standards was an unheard of sum.
