High Stakes Poker High Stakes poker definitions vary according to the person defining "High Stakes". What is High Stakes to one player, may be middle or low stakes to another player. While there is no absolute definition of low, middle or high stakes poker; there are some general ranges many poker players agree upon. Texas Hold'em Poker (Live/Money games): Low Stakes: Limit Poker: $1 -$2 up to $10 - $20 *No Limit: Buy in $ 100 or less with blinds of less than $5 each.
Middle Stakes: Limit Poker: $15 -$ 30 up to $40 - $ 80 *No Limit: Buy in from $100 to $500 with blinds less than $10 each.
High Stakes: Limit poker: from $100 - $200 to $1,000 - $ 2,000 *No limit: Buy in from $ 1,000 to $50,000
Ultra High Stakes: Limit poker and no limit poker: *Buy in from $ 100,000 to more than $1,000,000 *(Yes we know its called no limit; however, the amount of money brought to the table by the players in the way of buy ins determines the amount and sizes of the betting available to players. Consequently, a no limit game can be rated from low stakes to high stakes much like a limit game.) Tournaments: Tournaments vary in definition based on the total cost of entry fee plus any additional buys or add ons. Note: It should be noted that poker limits are rising rapidly and what is high limits today may well be lower limits tomorrow. Indeed, we have seen a rapid increase in limits during the past two years both in tournament and live play. Consequently, these limit definitions should be considered temporary at best.
